9 Weeks

I took Kacie to school this week for my friend's baby shower and to introduce her to my Bullock family. Of course she was a hit and it was fun to see everyone "ooh & ahh" over her. She was all smiles, and took a 15 minute catnap in the stroller when she started fussing. I will be going back to school next week. I can't believe my maternity leave is almost over! Here are pictures from that day, and other cute ones this week.

2 Months Old!

Wow, time sure does fly. I always hear moms say that and it is so true!!

One issue I've had lately is Kacie's not sleeping during the day.  The past few weeks, she has stopped napping. That girl will NOT go to sleep! Some days, she just cat naps all day (20-30 min at a time). Some days she MIGHT sleep for an hour, but most days, she stays awake all day. The good thing is she sleeps well at night, but I know she's tired during the day. Sometimes she'll fall asleep in my arms, but as soon as I try to move her to her bassinet, crib, a blanket, or the swing, she wakes up immediately. Sometimes she'll sleep a couple of hours, but only in the swing. She doesn't cry, she's just AWAKE! We've been swaddling her at night, because she flails those arms around so much and always wakes herself up. One night, she slept 9 hours straight!! I couldn't believe it when I woke up in the morning and realized she hadn't woken up all night. She hasn't done it again, but I hope it's the beginning of sleeping through the night. I just want the napping situation to get better.

Here are some things about Miss Kacie this month:
  • She started sleeping in her crib at night this week. So far, everything is going smoothly. She has been sleeping 6-8 hours straight, so I definitely can't complain.
  • As I mentioned above, she refuses to nap, but hopefully that's a "phase."
  • She is a really happy baby. She just smiles so much!
  • She is finally wearing her 0-3 month clothes & size 1 diapers.
  • At her 2 month check up, she weighed 11 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 22 1/2 inches long (although I think she's longer than that).
  • She's still very impatient when she's hungry, but other than that she hardly ever cries.
  • She loves to look in mirrors.
  • She can hold her head up when we hold her on our shoulder. She can lift it up when she's on her tummy, but usually she won't! When we put her on her tummy, she just lays there and smiles.
  • She is starting to "talk" alot more! I love hearing all her little noises.
We were supposed to go to the doctor yesterday for her 2 month check up, but my car wouldn't start! So we rescheduled for this morning.  She was such a trooper and only cried for a few minutes after her vaccinations (3 shots in the leg, and 1 liquid).

Here is her 2 month "photo shoot."

Happy 2 months, little princess! We love you so much!

    7-8 Weeks

These 2 weeks have been really busy! This is a long one!

One day, we went to visit my friend Leanne and her newborn son, Nathan. We stayed for a few hours to visit. They are almost exactly 1 month apart. Here is a picture of the 2 of them on their first "play date."
Kacie also attended her first wedding on May 14. I sang at my good friend Kelli's wedding. My parents weren't able to watch her, so we had to bring her. It gave me an excuse for her to wear her cute Easter dress again. :) She was really good during the whole wedding. When we were about to leave, she started fussing. I wanted a family picture, but we forgot to do it earlier, so we did it as we were leaving.

We had some special visitors this week to add to everything else that's going on. First, my BFF Misty came over with her 3 girls. She has almost 2 year old twins, and a baby that's 2 days older than Kacie. We knew we had one dress that was the same, so we planned to have the girls wear them to take pictures. It was so fun to see them and meet each other's babies!
I love how Kacie's knee is holding up Sarah Beth's bottle

The other special visitor was my friend Megan, who I used to teach with. She came over one day and brought us lunch. She has a son that just turned 1 in February, so she has alot of advice about going back to school and being a mom.
Here are just some cute pictures from these 2 weeks.

Really staring at that bumble bee!
These are almost identical pictures, except for the outfit, during tummy time
Kacie fell asleep while eating, and I sat with her for a long time in my lap. Then I had to go to the bathroom really bad, but I didn't want her to wake up. I successfully managed to move her to the floor and she stayed asleep!
     Dressed up for church
     Sweet little smile
Finally took a (short) nap in her crib
I think that's it! My baby girl will be 2 months old next week. I can't believe it!!

    Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day...I cannot believe I finally get to celebrate this day as a mother. It started with Kacie waking up to eat. Then I had some snuggle time with my sweet girl.

We didn't really do anything special during the day. Jason & Kacie got me some flowers and they each got me a card. That night, we decided to go to dinner at Red Robin, one of my favorites. Kacie did pretty well. She got a little fussy, so Jason took her outside for a few minutes to "swing" the carseat. She quickly fell asleep and stayed that way through the whole meal.

Overall it was a very relaxing, low key day. I am so blessed to be the mother to this little angel and I hope we will have a great relationship as she gets older!
