Doctor Visits

The past week or so Kacie has had a really bad cough. It probably sounded worse than it was, but I finally took her in to the doctor to see what was causing it.  This was the first time she has been to the doctor's office since she could walk. She had a blast in the waiting room with all the toys!
The doctor didn't find anything wrong, and wasn't sure why she was coughing. He said to monitor her for a few days and call again if it doesn't get better. I was glad nothing was wrong, but it still didn't stop her cough. Of course my little princess fell asleep on the way home.
So the rest of the week, the cough did not go away. She was waking herself up several times during the night because of it. We were using the humidifier and Vicks, but nothing was working. It seriously sounded like she was hacking up a lung! So we went back to the doctor. This time Jason came with us. I love this pic of them walking down the hall. (She wanted to bring her Minnie Mouse)
Here she is in the waiting room.
The doctor thought maybe she had a slight sinus infection, so he prescribed some medicine. Again, here is my little angel on the way home.
Luckily, the medicine worked and she seems to be back to normal. Yea!

Grandma's Birthday and Father's Day

Jason and I went to a Ranger game on Wednesday night, which meant a slumber party for Kacie at Grandma Bonnie and Grandpa Paul's house.
Go Rangers!! (That's Jim Knox from tv behind us!)
The next day was my mom's birthday, so Kacie and I took her to lunch and went shopping.
Her face is so funny in this pic!
 Happy birthday Grandma!!
Two days later was Father's Day. We went to dinner Saturday night a a new Mexican place by our house, "Frankie's" with my parents. The next day, we spent a lazy day at home. Here is Daddy with his princess and his presents! We love you Jason!
My parents' anniversary was also this weekend, so every year this is a busy week for my family.

Sensory Tubs

I've been trying to think of activities to do with Kacie since we can't play outside much. My friend Amanda has an AWESOME blog filled with fun learning activities for babies and toddlers. (website:  Dirt and Boogers) One day I spent Kacie's whole naptime reading her ideas. Her son is a little older than Kacie, so for some of the ideas I had to figure out how to adapt for a younger child.  One afternoon Kacie and I went to Dollar Tree to pick up some goodies to play with and try some of the ideas from the blog.

The first thing I wanted to do was a Sensory Tray . Basically, you put a bunch of different items of different sizes, shapes, and textures on a tray or in a big plastic bowl. My friend's website had several cute themes, but for the first time I just put in some random things. I put beans, these blue pebble things, measuring cups, little plastic shot glasses, and some plastic decorative safety pins in a bowl and sat it in front of Kacie. The idea is for her to just explore and play for as long as she wants to.  I was very happy with how it turned out. She played with this stuff for almost 45 minutes. That's a LIFETIME in toddler time. She had so much fun and I only had to stop her from putting things in her mouth 2 times at the very beginning. It works with all their senses (except for taste in this activity!) and works on gross and fine motor skills.

Here are a few pictures, but they don't really do justice to how fun it was to watch her. I gave her some ideas at first about scooping and pouring the beans, but she took the reins from there and had a blast!
She has played with this same bowl a few more times. I need to put some other things in it and mix it up! I'm excited about all the new ideas!

Pics from the week....

Once again, here are some random pictures that don't really need their own post.

This was at Kroger. The first time Kacie wanted something and Mommy caved in. We walked by a big bin of balls, and she was pointing and making her little high-pitched "mmmm" noise. I finally decided she needed a ball because we don't have any big ones, so I handed it to her. This picture is just as she was throwing it (of course...had to see that coming!) It entertained her the rest of the grocery trip.
 Peeling off a sticker
She has also decided it's a good chair
Playing Peek-A-Boo (she still likes to sit on the tv tray)
She gathered up a handful of books and went and sat on the tray
 Learning how to color
She colored for a few minutes, but then decided to turn the tray over and stand on it!
Then of course she wanted to sit in it and look at books. So silly!

More Playground Fun!

We went to the playground again this week, and this time Jason got to come with us! It was much easier with both of us there, because she could walk/climb more on the top of the equipment.

Here's our little climber....There was a 2 year old there that couldn't climb it by himself.

Backyard Fun!

Our backyard does not have any shade, so we can only play outside at certain times. Here is some of the fun we've been having so far this summer!
Pool time
 CHEESE!
Here's a video of her drinking the water. At the end she accidentally splashes herself in the face and doesn't like that!!
