Painting

This weekend I decided to try painting with Kacie. I put on her big bib and we went to town. I couldn't decide where to do it, so I put the paper on the kitchen table. She had to stand up to reach it.
The bib kept getting in the way, so we decided to go topless.
Then she wanted to sit down.
It turned out great, so we will definitely try this again!

It's Raining!

This weekend it rained and Kacie started saying "it's raining" when we were driving! She hasn't seen that much rain, so I was surprised she knew what it was. We went to my parents' house and Kacie played outside a little bit when it was just sprinkling. She had a blast!!

Grandma Sharon's Visit

Grandma Sharon came to stay with us for a week. We didn't get a lot of family time because of school and work, but Sharon kept Kacie every day and got lots of Grandma time. Here are some of her and our pictures of the week! She arrived Saturday evening and left the next Saturday morning.
 Giddy up, horsey!
 Putting babies to bed
 Hiding from Grandma
 Play time with Daddy
Cutie pie with her fluffy curls
 Playing with her instruments
 Hats!
 Sweaty from too much fun!
 Reading with Mommy after school
Her new favorite place to sit
Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of the two of them together!
 After bath
The train and playground outside a restaurant at the mall
We didn't get to do much, but we sure are glad she could come!

18 Months

Where does the time go? I absolutely cannot believe my little angel is 1 1/2 years old.
This month has been FULL of activities and milestones!
  • I started school, and Kacie is really loving her new "school."
  • Even though she loves Mrs. Karen and her new friends, almost every day, MULTIPLE times a day, she says "Addy, Amy" over and over again. I think she misses them!
  • She has really started pretending and role-playing. She will say "Oh no! Bee!" and point somewhere and pretend she sees a bee. She feeds, washes, and puts her dolls to bed. She pushes them in a little doll stroller. She lays down on a pillow or on the floor in the living room and says, "Night Night," and closes her eyes for a few seconds before jumping up and squealing.
  • She has a Little People dollhouse, and she actually plays with her little dolls. She talks to them, they walk around, and she sits them in the chairs and the beds.
  • She is really into singing the ABCs, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and I'm Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee.
  • She has started identifying colors! I was so shocked and happy when I found this out. She had been pointing to everything and calling it purple, whether it was or not. Last weekend, we were sitting in her ball pit, and she held up a purple ball and said, "purple." I didn't know if she really knew it was purple or not, so I told her to show me another purple ball. She picked up another purple ball! I then asked for red, yellow, blue, and green balls, and she picked up the correct one every time. Since then, I've asked her to point out the colors in different places to see if she could transfer that to something other than the balls, and she points to the correct one. I'm so excited to see how much she's learning!
  • She is able to do her 2 different shape sorters all by herself.
  • She is taking longer naps at Mrs. Karen's....yea!
  • She still says "bye-bye" to everything when she leaves Mrs. Karen's every day. She actually hugs the bird cage and the fish bowl. It is so funny!
  • Her little mini-tantrums are becoming a little more frequent, sometimes because she doesn't get what she wants, and sometimes for no reason at all...but they still only last about a minute or two at the most.
  • She is really fascinated with letters these days. She loves her magnet letters, and when she sees words, she points to the letters and says "B". I'm not sure why that one has stuck in her head, but I guess she likes B! We were outside one day, and she walked up to Jason's truck's license plate and pointed to each letter and said, "B B B B."
  •  She has to have Minnie & Baby everywhere she goes, including in the car and to bed.
  • Her measurements are 34 inches and 29 1/2 pounds.
Here are the "outtakes" from trying to get her picture. I think this was the most challenging month I've had so far. She would NOT sit still!
"I think I'll lay down."
Cute smile, but not looking at me.
"Wow, it's exhausting being this cute."
 "See my bear mom?"
"I need to lay down again."
 "Ooooh, what's over here?"
 "Are we done yet?"
 "I'm so over this!"
 "How's this pose?"
"Come on mom, you have to admit I'm cute!"
"Hmmmm, I think I'll take my shoe off now!"
"Now I'll try to put it back on!"
"I want to see the camera!"
"Ok, I'll sit still for 5 seconds just for you mom."
 "Ok, time's up!"
I had the brilliant idea to tell her to show me her teeth to get her to smile. Ha!
 "Mom, what does this say?"
And we're done. I can't believe she is already a year and a half. It's almost time to start planning that 2nd birthday party. We love you so much Kacie Lynn!
