10 Months! Double Digits!!

I cannot believe Kacie is 10 months old. The past month has been FILLED with so much activity with the holidays, family, and being sick.
10 Months!!
  • You wouldn't know it by the picture, but she has a double ear infection, bad cough, and a very runny nose. However, she has been in GREAT spirits and only fusses a little when we are trying to wipe her nose.
  • She weighs 20 pounds, 13 ounces. The doctor weighed her at her appointment.
  • She is finally crawling & pulling up. It seems like in the past week she has become so much stronger and faster.
A new trick...climbing up the stairs
  • She is babbling SO much. The "p" and "t" sounds seem to be her favorites. She uses so many different tones and inflections that we really wish we knew what she was saying.
  • She has really been copying sounds. She says "dada" all the time. I think she is saying it as a word and not just sounds, because she looks at Jason when she says it. Or if he walks in the room she'll say "Dada!" and crawl over to him.
  • She will point to her "hair" and "nose" when we say it.
  • She started giving kisses! This is one of my most favorite things. She will lean forward with her open mouth for a kiss. So sweet!
  • She started saying "Uh oh." At first, she was just copying us and my mom, but then she started using it appropriately when she drops/throws something without us saying it.
  • She has 5 teeth! The past few weeks 3 of the top ones came in. That made for some rough nights.
  • She is still eating baby food, but we have given her small pieces of things off our plates. She gets very excited and tries to grab anything we have in our hands.
  • She started making a funny sound one day. Out of the blue, she made 2 fists and let out this loud growl. We have no idea where she got it, and I literally had tears from laughing so hard. She also started clapping when we say "yea" and here's a video of her doing both.
  • Other things she loves right now: books, her doll, baths, "Fresh Beat Band," going outside, snuggling with blankets, playing with Earl through the window, eating puffs, empty water bottles, her daddy, music
We love our sweet girl and  can't believe it's time to start planning her first birthday party!
As always, here are the "extra" pictures from her 10 month photo session.

Sick

Kacie has had a runny nose a few times, but it never escalated into anything else. Last Thursday, she got another runny nose, but this time she was also coughing. She didn't have a fever, so we just waited to see how she would get over the weekend. This morning, she was still pretty congested and coughing, so Jason took her to the doctor. Well, it turns out my poor baby has a double ear infection!! I had no idea because she never had a fever, and was never pulling at her ears, which is supposed to be a "sign" of an ear infection. The doctor gave her an antibiotic, so hopefully that will help her feel better this week.

Here she is asleep in the waiting room at the doctor's office.
She still doesn't have a fever, but she is just so congested she can barely breathe. I hate not being able to do anything for her besides using the "nose sucker" and just giving her lots of cuddles.

Pulling Up, Crawling, and Other "Big Girl" Things!

We FINALLY have a crawler!! For the past few months, Kacie has been the champion of army crawling on her stomach. She would maybe do 1-2 crawling "steps," but then she would just drop to her tummy and take off. Well, one night last week while we were playing, she just started crawling across the living room to Jason's computer. I grabbed my phone just in time to get it on video. Yea!!!

Since this video, she has gotten so much faster! She pretty much crawls everywhere now. If we act like we are going to chase her, she will squeal and go back to the army crawl.

Kacie has also been trying so hard to pull up on things, but hadn't had much success. Well, here's my big girl the first time she pulled up on something (besides us) all by herself!!
A few days later, I saw this one morning on the monitor. I ran in with the camera before she could sit down. I practically blinded her, that's why she has such a funny face. Needless to say, that day Jason lowered the crib mattress.
She has been climbing on everything ever since.

Here's a cute outfit she wore to church. I was disappointed because the one with the best smile had her shirt up, and Jason didn't tell me!
This is the toddler/pre-school playground that night at church. Kacie was crawling around and "playing" with her friends Macey & Andie. She looks so big standing up right here!
I went to lunch on MLK day (no school) with one of my dear friends Lindsey and her 3 month old daughter Harper. I actually met Lindsey when I was a freshman in college and she was in 6th grade. I was her counselor at youth camp, and we kept our relationship growing every since. Unfortunately, Harper slept in her carseat the whole time, so I didn't get to hold her or get any pictures. :( This is what Kacie wore. While I was trying to get a good picture, she was squealing and holding up her arms. Then just dropped back against the chair as if to say, "Ok, it's exhausting being this cute!"
Another thing my "big girl" likes to do now is hold her own bottle.
One more cute picture....if there's a remote ANYWHERE, Miss Kacie will find it. Guaranteed.

This year we spent New Years Eve with our good friends (Stephen, Danielle, Jake, Leanne, Jon, Carter, and Nathan) at the Owens' house. This was the 3rd or 4th year that we had celebrated NYE together.
