5 Months!

My little baby is 5 months old! I cannot believe how the time has flown by. I really notice it when I go back and look at the past blogs and my facebook pictures. Here are some things about Kacie this month:
  • She had been napping SO well until the week I started school. Hopefully she'll adjust and go back to sleeping longer.
  • She is making all kinds of sounds and still jabbering up a storm. Her latest new sounds are squealing and the "razz" spitting noise.
  • She is scooting all over the place-forward AND backwards.
  • As previously mentioned, she has started grabbing her feet this past week.
  • She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth and reaches for anything that's near her.
  • She continues to smile all the time, and it just melts my heart.
  • She is wearing size 2 diapers during the day, and size 3 at night because they get so full.
  • She is wearing 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes.
  • She likes to cuddle when she's tired, otherwise she is constantly trying to push up, squirm away, or sit up.
Here are the pictures from her 5 month photo shoot. And, as usual, I included all the "bloopers" of her trying to get away!
Here is my big girl "standing up" and looking quite proud of herself.

First Week of School

This was the first week of school, and I am exhausted!! I have been getting up at 5:15 to pump, get ready, clean, dry & pack the pumping stuff, make my lunch, and finally get out the door between 6:30-6:45. I don't even have time to nurse Kacie, because she takes about 30 minutes, so Jason gives her a bottle and she goes right back to sleep for about 2 more hours. She has been waking up around 6/6:30 most mornings. Jason is getting her dressed and ready every day to take to the babysitter or my mom. My week was good, it's just hard to get back in the swing of things after having 5 months off!

It was also a big week for Kacie. This was her first week to stay at my friend Amy's house. Amy & I used to work at ASI Gymnastics together. She has 1 & 2 year old kids, so there is plenty of entertainment for Kacie. She did fine, although she went back to taking short naps every day. At least she isn't fussy when she wakes up, so I am not worried about it. I think she just needs to adjust. Usually she will stay one day a week with my mom, but my parents went to visit Brent this week. Here are some pictures that Jason & Amy sent me during the week.

I survived the first week and my little princess turned 5 months this week. That info is in the next post.

Back to School

This week I had to go back to school for inservice week. The students start on Aug. 22. It was really tough getting back in the habit of getting up early. But what was even harder was getting everything ready for myself, AND getting everything ready for Kacie. After sleeping until 6:30/7:00 almost all summer, Kacie chose this week to start waking up in the middle of the night at 3 or 4 to eat. So, you can bet I have been SOOOO tired this week, and school hasn't even started yet.

Kacie will be staying with my mom 1 day a week, and with my friend Amy the other 4 days. This week was the first time she had ever stayed with someone other than my parents. I wasn't nervous about Amy taking care of her, I was just worried that all the work we had done on naps this summer would be destroyed and she wouldn't nap for Amy. Well, of course everything was fine. She has reverted back to the short 45 minute naps, though, so that makes it tough to keep a consistent schedule. Hopefully she'll get into more of a routine in the next few weeks as she gets used to all the changes. Also, Amy has two kids, ages 1 & 2, so Kacie will have plenty of entertainment, and will be crawling around chasing them before we know it!
Amy sent this picture to me on Monday, the first day she kept Kacie.
Jason sent me this picture Tuesday morning before he took her to Amy's
Here's some cuddle time with mommy after school
These are some pictures Grandma took on Wednesday
More playtime with mommy in the evening
 Bathtime!
We haven't started solids with Kacie yet, but I read somewhere that you should let babies play with a spoon before you try to feed them so they can get used to it. So I was putting it in her mouth in the bathtub, and she was making the funniest faces. She finally grabbed it and chomped away while I was washing her, but here is her initial reaction.

Thursday night we had dinner with my Aunt Brenda, Uncle Jackie, my parents, and my cousin Jordan with Kathryn & Hannah. (We could NOT get her to look at the camera!)
Friday, Jason didn't have to work, so he kept Kacie home with him all day. These are the pictures he took. He was having too much fun playing dress up!
One last picture-here's my bulletin board outside my classroom
I'm going to go enjoy my last weekend of summer vacation!

20 Weeks

Here are some pictures from the happenings of this week. This was my last full week at home, so we had to have some fun!
Ready for church in her new strawberry dress
A lazy Sunday where we stayed in our pajamas all day!
Trying out her new toy-a jumparoo from Jake
1st time wearing shoes (little pink sandals)
Another church night
My sweet girl sleeping
When Kacie wakes up, she is never crying. She immediately starts talking to herself. At first she lays still, but eventually that head pops up. She will go on for quite a while. Jason & I think this is hilarious, and here are 2 videos of this.
Another exciting thing that happened this week was Kacie met her cousin (2nd cousin) Hannah. Jason, Kacie & I went with my parents to visit my cousin Jordan, his wife Kathryn, and their new baby Hannah. Hannah is 2 months younger than Kacie. We had a good time visiting and talking about the joys and frustrations of being new parents.

18 & 19 Weeks

Lots going on these 2 weeks. I guess I'm trying to pack it all in since I have to go back to school later this week. This will be a long one, so hang in there!

First, here's a super cute dress that Grandpa Derry brought for Kacie when he was here. This is before church, and as usual it took several attempts to get a good picture. Our little wiggle worm was on the move again!
 Here she goes....
Finally, we just laid her on the floor
One day, we went to Cici's with Grandma Bonnie & Grandpa Paul
Here is Mommy & Kacie, getting ready for lunch with my friend Stefanie
The BIG NEWS from this week was Kacie stayed overnight at Grandma & Grandpa's house! Jason & I went to a Ranger game, and on the way home, we were discussing what to do because we really didn't want to have to wake Kacie up to bring her home. So we talked to my mom & dad, and they agreed to let her just stay there and I would pick her up in the morning. It was a success! Here she is in the pack 'n play. (Also, the new way she sleeps-on her tummy, and many times with her face down, which makes me nervous!)
Here's Kacie following in our footsteps and cheering for the Rangers!
Here is another super cute dress that I'd been DYING for Kacie to wear! We went to our friend Tyler's 2nd birthday party last Saturday, and that was the perfect occasion for this dress!
Obviously she was moving in this one, but I thought her little grin was so cute!
Unfortunately, Kacie had a diaper blow out on the way to the party. When we got there and took her out of the car seat, the back of her dress had some "discoloration" from the gift she had for us in her diaper. We had to change her into a onsie from her diaper bag. I was so disappointed that she didn't get to wear her dress for long.  Here she is in her "plain" outfit having fun at the party.
Here are Kacie & me with Leanne & Nathan
Jason & Kacie watching the big kids eat cake & ice cream
Kacie has started scooting backwards when she's on her stomach. She pushes up with her arms straight, and when she falls back down, it moves her backwards. This shows how far back she moved one day.
Here is a video that I got of her "talking." Sorry it shakes at times, but I was laughing really hard. (And I finally figured out how to make the videos right side up.) I love the scream at the beginning!
This week, we had a get together/play date with my ASI friends and their kids. Amy, Jennifer, Amanda, and I all met at Kara's house. It was so good to see them and see all our kids together. We were just missing Autumn & Lux, who were out of town.
The kids:
Jack-8, Tyler-3, Colette-8 months, Molly-4, Addison-1, Dawson-2, Hannah-6, Kacie-4 months

A sweet video of Daddy making Kacie laugh

And last, but not least, my FAVORITE picture of these 2 weeks! This is the new face that Kacie makes all the time, and Jason FINALLY got it on camera.
Whew! That's all for these 2 weeks!
