I haven't posted anything about this until now. At my monthly check up in January, Dr. Potter was concerned that Kacie's heart rate was too high. She counted it several times and it was up in the 180s and she wanted it under 160. She sent us to the hospital to get an NST (which I learned is a Non Stress Test) to check and monitor her heart beat for about 30 minutes. Her heart rate was still high, so they made an appointment for us to get a Level 2 sonogram with a specialist later that week to check her heart. You can imagine my apprehension during this time. I hadn't even met her yet, and my heart was breaking to think something was wrong with my little girl's heart.
When we had the sonogram, the doctor said everything looked fine with her heart, and he couldn't see anything wrong. Her heart rate was still high (170s), so he requested that I come in twice a week from now until she's born for NSTs. It was a great sigh of relief that nothing was wrong, but still a little scary.
So from the end of January until this week, I drove out to Rowlett to the hospital after school every Monday & Thursday. Her heart rate was almost always in the 170 range, but the nurses who administered the NSTs still thought nothing was wrong. Luckily, my blood pressure and everything else was always normal, but they could never figure out what was causing her heart to beat so fast. So even though it was a hassle driving out there so much, (and expensive-even with insurance), we are so thankful that nothing is wrong with our sweet Kacie, as far as we know. I cannot wait to meet that little girl next week!!!!
