Kacie is 9 Months!

Once again I cannot believe how fast the time is flying by.  My little princess is getting so big and her personality is really coming out. I have enjoyed being home with her these 2 weeks, and it will be so hard to go back next week. Here are some things about Kacie this month.

  • She is really developing a silly personality. She laughs and giggles all the time, but lately we have noticed she will just start laughing while playing or looking at something. It is very entertaining to watch her play and laugh. Here is an example of her silliness while we were trying to take our 9 month pics.
  • She is still making all kinds of sounds and "talking" up a storm.
  • She has begun pulling up on her knees. One afternoon after a nap, this is what I found when I came in her room.

  • She is still very shy and serious when we meet new people or go to new places.
  • She LOVES books and likes to turn the pages herself. Many times she will just grab one of her books, put it in her lap, and start turning the pages.
  • She still waves hi and bye all the time, though not always on command when we want to "show off" her trick!
  • She is able to entertain herself very well. In the mornings, we love to watch her on the monitor for a little bit when she first wakes up. She just starts babbling, rolling over, sitting up, grabbing her sheep, knocking on the wall, laughing, and squealing. We just lay in bed and crack up while we watch her.
  • She has learned how to go from stomach to sitting up.
  • She still has very little interest in crawling. She will do 1-2 "steps" every once in a while, but she always reverts to her army crawl.
  • At her 9 month doctor appointment, she weighed 20 pounds, 9 ounces, and is 28 inches tall.
  • She went through a big sleep regression for about 3 weeks where she started waking up at about 3:00 every morning wanting to eat. It made me a very tired teacher for those weeks. She is back to normal now, thank goodness!
  • She has gotten really good with her pincer grasp and loves eating her puffs. She is also good at picking up little pieces of everything off the carpet with her pincer as well.
  • She LOVES the TV show "Fresh Beat Band." She will sit and stare and not move while it is on. It's a bunch of people singing and dancing, and she will start rocking and "dancing" when it is on.
  • She can't quite pull up to standing on her own, but when we stand her up, she is able to balance pretty well on her feet.

And as usual, here are the "outtakes" of trying to get a good picture. I think Jason and I had about 50 shots between our 2 cameras to just get that one at the top of her looking AND smiling!

We love you so much Kacie Lynn! Happy 9 months!
