Goin' back to Cali! (Part 1)

We were so excited to get to spend 2 weeks in California this summer with Jason's family and friends. We left in the morning on July 12 (our 5th anniversary!). Our friend Scott drove us to the airport. I was a little nervous about how Kacie would be on the plane, but I had plenty of movies, snacks, and toys to occupy her.
On the way to the airport
There was a little playground right next to our gate. That was REALLY lucky, because Kacie played for a long time before we grabbed some lunch.
There was a little baby in the play area, and she was having so much fun crawling around with her. In this picture, she is actually kissing the baby on the head!
All aboard! We are seated and ready. Of course she has Minnie and Baby with her, as well as "Strings," her favorite blanket.
The portable DVD player is such an awesome invention!!
 Looking at the clouds
I had hoped she would nap on the plane, but she never fell asleep. However, after about 5 seconds in Grandma Sharon's car leaving the airport, this is what happened.....
 Eating dinner with Grandma Sharon
Sharon borrowed a lot of toys, games, puzzles, and books from some of her other "Grandma" friends for Kacie to play with during our stay. She LOVED all the new toys!
Since it was our anniversary, Jason & I went to dinner while Kacie stayed with Sharon. We went to a place his dad had suggested, but the line to get in the parking lot was around the block. We didn't want to wait, and Jason didn't really know of any more places, so we ended up at Chili's. Not very fancy, but it's more "us" anyway. Here's to the first 5 years and many more!
The next day, we went to a playground/splash park near Sharon's house.
Derry came over after nap so we could go to dinner.
At the restaurant, Kacie wasn't acting like herself. She was being really quiet and didn't want to eat. I thought she was just tired, but then she wanted to sit in my lap. I felt her forehead and it was BURNING up! We quickly got to-go boxes and went back to Sharon's. Jason called a few friends to see if anyone had a thermometer, because I had not thought to bring ours. One of his friends brought one over, and she did indeed have a fever. We put her in a lukewarm/cool bath, and she SCREAMED her head off. But it did make her fever go down.
She still had a fever on Sunday morning, so we just stayed home and took it easy. We were supposed to leave to go to the mountains on Sunday afternoon, but we ended up not going since her fever was not going away.  Sharon drove up with Jason's sister and we were hoping to go the next day.
Lazy day with our little princess
